Charles Le Guin is a French historian and a professor of history at Portland State University, Oregon.
Charles met American novelist, Ursula K. Le Guin, in 1953, as graduate students on Fulbright scholarships in Paris; they married a few months later. After the marriage, Ursula abandoned her doctoral studies.
The couple moved to America; Charles became an instructor in history at Portland State University, Oregon, USA, and the couple settled in Portland. They had two daughters, Elizabeth and Caroline, by the time they moved to Portland, and a son, Theodore, who was born in Portland in 1964.
