Biography

Chad Warrix is an American country singer, songwriter, and musician. He is one-half of the American country music duo Halfway to Hazard with David Tolliver.

Life and career

Warrix was born and raised in Kentucky. He attended Belmont University, Nashville, Tennessee, in the years 1993–1998 and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration (BBA), with a focus on Music Business.

In 2007, Warrix and David Tolliver founded Halfway to Hazard. (Hazard in a small town in Kentucky, halfway between their hometowns.) In the early part of their career, the two played together in many Nashville clubs. They started getting popular and were noticed by record producer Byron Gallimore and famed country musician Tim McGraw, who mentored them and produced their first album.

In August 2007, they released their self-titled debut album through a joint venture of Mercury Nashville Records and StyleSonic Records (owned by Tim McGraw). Their debut single, "Daisy," was a Top 40 hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs charts in 2007. It was also featured as iTunes' single of the week on August 6, 2007. The album also featured various country musicians such as Bobby PinsonAnthony SmithRivers Rutherford, and Shannon Lawson.

After the album release, they toured as the opening act for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill on their Soul to Soul II Tour. The following year they opened for Tim McGraw and Jason Aldean, among others. The same year, in May 2008, they were nominated by the Academy of Country Music for the Duo of the Year award.

In October 2009, they released their second album, Come On Time, with Picnic Hill Records. After their second album, the duo took a hiatus from 2011 to 2014. During this time, Warrix toured as lead guitarist with Randy Houser and Keith Anderson, whereas Tolliver began writing full-time for Three Hounds Music.

In November 2011, Warrix's song "Rain on the Roof" was featured on CDX Volume 536. Among the musicians featured on the CD were: George StraitSteve HolyJosh Thompson, and Jason Michael Carroll.

In October 2017, Warrix and Tolliver released their third album, REDemptiOn, which carried the singles Heaven On Down the Highway (2015) and American Outlaw (2016).

Philanthropy

Warrix and Tolliver use their position as country musicians for various philanthropic efforts. They have raised over a million dollars for music programs in their home state of Kentucky and also raised over $500,000 for hurricane relief in Texas and Florida. In addition, they are active with the Tony Martell's T.J. Martel Foundation, Storme Warren's Nashville Navy, and Tracy Lawrence’s Turkey Fry.
