Cameron Jordan

Cameron Tyler Jordan (born July 10, 1989) is an American football defensive end for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at California, and was drafted by the Saints in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft.

Jordan was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of former Minnesota Vikings tight end Steve Jordan. He attended Chandler High School in Chandler, Arizona, where he was a two-sport star in football and track for the Chandler Wolves. In football, he earned All-State honors his senior year after registering 85 tackles and 17.5 quarterback sacks. Regarded as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, Jordan was listed as the #37 strongside defensive end of the class of 2007.

Also an outstanding track & field athlete, Jordan was one of the state's top performers in the discus throw. He captured the state title in the discus at the 2007 5A I State Meet, recording a top-throw of 53.54 meters (175 ft 7 in), while also placing 10th in the shot put event, with a throw of 14.01 meters (45 ft, 11 in).

Jordan primarily played defensive end for the University of California at Berkeley. He was coached by head coach Jeff Tedford and Defensive coordinator, Bob Gregory. He played in 50 of 51 possible games and made 32 starts at Cal from 2007-10. Jordan achieved honorable mention All-American (Pro Football Weekly) and first-team All-Pac-10 choice as a senior in 2010 after two consecutive honorable mention All-Pac-10 campaigns in 2008 and 2009.

He finished his collegiate career with 175 tackles, while adding 34.0 tackles for loss (-122 yards) and 16.5 sacks (-89 yards) to rank just outside the school's all-time top 10 in each of the latter two categories. He also had one interception that he returned for three yards, five pass breakups, four forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries that he returned for a total of 41 yards and two touchdowns.

Jordan was selected as the 24th overall pick in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. On August 2, 2011, Jordan signed a four-year, $7.7 million deal with the Saints. Jordan's first year was relatively quiet, as he played in all 16 games but only recorded a single sack along with 24 tackles. He also recovered a fumble. The Saints made the playoffs that year and Jordan started 1 of 2 playoff games and recorded 6 tackles overall while deflecting a pass.

Jordan started all 16 games while recording 8.0 sacks and 54 tackles. He forced 3 fumbles and recovered 2. He recorded 3.0 sacks in a Week 8 win against the Philadelphia Eagles.

In 2013, Jordan made his first Pro Bowl. He recorded 12.5 sacks and 43 tackles. He forced 2 fumbles as well as recovering 2. The Saints again made the playoffs and Jordan started both games they played. He recorded 2.5 sacks and 8 tackles during the playoffs. He had multi-sack performances in Weeks 3, 11, and 13.

In 2014, Jordan recorded 7.5 sacks and 40 tackles, along with a fumble recovery. Jordan also recorded an interception. He only had one multi-sack game and that was in Week 7, in a win against the Green Bay Packers. He recorded an interception in the Saints' Week 12 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In 2015, Jordan recorded 10.0 sacks and 38 tackles, as well as making his second Pro Bowl. He forced a fumble and recovered two. He had two dominant performances, both coming in consecutive weeks. In Week 6, against the Atlanta Falcons, Jordan recorded 3.0 sacks. The next week, against the Indianapolis Colts, Jordan recorded 2.0 sacks. These would be Jordan's only two multi-sack games in 2015. At one point, Pro Football Focus ranked Jordan as the number one defensive end in the league. Jordan was named a 2015 Pro Football Focus second-team All-Pro.He was ranked 99th on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2016.

In 2016, Jordan recorded 7.5 sacks and 58 combined tackles, as well as having 6 passes deflected and a forced fumble. Jordan was also named a Pro Football Focus second-team All-Pro for the second year in a row.
