Brian Schoonveld (born March 8, 1974) is an American Strongman competitor. He is a 2-time winner of America's Strongest Man in 2000 and 2001.
Brian Schoonveld was born in Valparaiso, Indiana, on March 8, 1974.
Growing up, he practiced American football and wrestling. He made his strongmen debut in 1999. On July 22, 2000, he won the America's Strongest Man competition held in Maryland Heights, Missouri, beating Phil Pfister (second) and Whit Baskin (third). On July 8, 2001, he again competed in America's Strongest Man at Kokomo, Indiana, and defeated Phil Pfister (second) and Johnny Perry (third).
In June 2001, Schoonveld was placed fifth in 2001 Beauty and the Beast in Honolulu, Hawaii. The top three spots were taken by Magnus Samuelsson (Sweden, first), Phil Pfister (USA, second), and Svend Karlsen (Norway, third).
On July 20, 2002, he again entered America's Strongest Man in St. Louis, Missouri, but was placed fourth. The winners were Steve Kirit (first), Johnny Perry (second), and Karl Gillingham (third).
He also competed in the individual World's Strongest Man 2000, World's Strongest Man 2001, and World's Strongest Man 2002, however, he never qualified for the finals.
Schoonveld has retired as a professional strongman athlete. He currently lives in DeMotte, Indiana.
