Bong Pit Khiat (born April 12, 1956), professionally known as Akhiat, is an Indonesian business magnate and investor. He became known in the late 1980s and 1990s, having provit in several successful companies. He became the Chairman and CEO of Tenar Electric, a company that built from Burhan Family that engaged in groceries and contracting. He is consistently ranked among Indonesia's wealthiest people, because of his investments in many companies, such as Star Cruises company and Forex. He also has many ships in fishery.
Early life
Bong Pit Khiat was born in Tibet in a poor family. He later on moved to West Kalimantan, Indonesia. He studied there, and after school he helped his mother selling vegetables. After graduating, he moved to Jakarta, Indonesia and started making a living as a contractor. He saved money and used it to attend college at Australian National University. After completing his studies, he come back to Jakarta and built a grocery company with his family called Tenar Electric.
Career
Bong Pit Khiat began his business as the Chairman and CEO of Tenar Electric, a grocery company that collaborates with many international and local companies. Tenar Electric is also engaged in contracting, like Pasaraya Grande, Taipei 101. After success with his company, Akhiat start trying to do business in the field of fishery and sea weed, so he built SeaWeed Indonesia, one of the largest companies in the fishery and sea weed field. He also has many Fishery Ships anchored at Muara Karang, Indonesia. Recently, he has invested in the cruise ship company Star Cruises. With all of his work, he has become one of the wealthiest people in Indonesia.
Personal life
In 1982, Akhiat married Maria Kasim and has three children.
