Biography

Balendranath Tagore was an Indian writer and poet.

Balendranath was born in 1870, in Jorasanko, to Birendranath Tagore and Prafullamoyee Devi Tagore. He was the only son.

The famous writer Rabindranath Tagore was the brother of Balendranath's father.

He began writing in Balaka at a very young age. He wrote many articles in Bharati O Balaka, Bharati, Sadhana, Pradip etc. He also wrote several essays on Indian paintings.

Death

Tagore suffered from tuberculosis and died at the age of 29, in 1899. Balendranath's unfinished writings were completed by his uncle, Rabindranath Tagore. The works were published in the magazine 'Pradip' under the title 'Balendranather Asamapta Rachana.'
