Anne Sacoolas is the wife of Jonathan Saccolas, a US diplomat and alleged NSA spy based in Northampton.
Anne Sacoolas, born Anne Elizabeth Goodwin, is a native South Carolina. She attended South Aiken High School, Aiken, South Carolina, and later studied psychology at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina.
She married her husband, Jonathan Sacoolas, in 2003 while working for the US State Department in Washington. According to a report by The Sun, she allegedly also worked for the CIA as a spy and was more senior than her husband.
Sacoolas was in the news in the fall of 2019 when she was charged with causing death by dangerous driving over the death of Harry, 19, in a head-on smash near RAF Croughton on August 27, 2019. It was later reported that Sacoolas was driving on the wrong side of the road when she crashed head-on into Harry. She then fled Britain with her family in the weeks following the crash and faced pressure to be extradited from the US back to Britain.
Sacoolas claimed diplomatic immunity after a special deal was put in place between the UK and the US which gives staff and their families based at RAF Croughton diplomatic immunity.
