Anja Mittag ([ˈʔanja ˈmɪtaːk]; born 16 May 1985) is a German footballer who plays for RB Leipzig as a striker.

Career

Club career

In December 2011 Mittag negotiated a release from 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam, after nine and a half years, in order to sign a two-year deal with Swedish Damallsvenskan club FC Rosengård. In May 2015, she signed a two-year deal with French club Paris Saint-Germain. On 30 August 2016, Mittag joined German club Wolfsburg on a two-year deal. On March 31, 2017 Mittag signed a contract with Rosengård once again.

Mittag is currently the all-time top scorer of the UEFA Women's Champions League, with 51 goals in the competition throughout her career.

International career

Mittag made her debut for the senior national team as a substitute in a friendly match with Italy on 31 March 2004 (2004-03-31). Her first goal with the senior national team came on 11 March 2005 (2005-03-11) in an Algarve Cup match against Norway.

She was part of the squad for the 2016 Summer Olympics, where Germany won the gold medal.

On 22 August 2017, she announced her retirement from international football.
