Agnew H. Bahnson (August 30, 1915 – June 3, 1964) was an American author, textile-machinery manufacturer, and speculative thinker.
Agnew H. Bahnson was born on August 30, 1915, in Forsyth County, North Carolina, to Agnew Hunter Bahnson Sr. (1886–1966) and Elizabeth Moir Hill Bahnson (1892–1966). His father was a textile manufacturer. In 1947, Bahnson Jr. succeeded as president of the family textile firm.
In 1941, Bahnson married Katharine King De Braganca-Johnson (1921–2007).
In 1959, he published his Near-Future political thriller, The Stars are too High, which features a hoax in which fake aliens with a real gravity-driven ship try to bring peace to the world.
Death
Bahnson died in a plane crash on June 3, 1964, in Wooster, Ohio. After his death, the University of North Carolina established the Agnew H. Bahnson Professorship in Physics, whose recipients are funded for relatively short periods.
