Biography
Yoshizumi Ishino (石野 良純, Ishino Yoshizumi) is a Japanese molecular biologist, best known for discovering the CRISPR in 1987.
Biography
Ishino received his BS, MS and PhD degree in 1981, 1983 and 1986, respectively, from Osaka University. From 1987 to 1989, he gained a post-doctoral fellowship at Yale University (Dieter Söll's laboratory).
In 2002, he became a professor at Kyushu University. Since October 2013, he is also a member of the NASA Astrobiology Institute, University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign.
