Kingsley Eno Osagie (born 12th 12th 1973) in Kano State (Nigeria) popularly known by his stage name Winning Jah is a Nigerian veteran reggae musician, songwriter and a philanthropist. Known for his debut album titled “Big Man” which sold over 650,00 units in Nigeria. He is mostly described as the Nigeria King of Reggae by fans and media companies.
Early Life :
Winning Jah is was born twin and the fifth of ten siblings, born in the northern part of Nigeria, and a Hausa Fulani. He attended Primary, Secondary school in Benin City to finally conclude his University at University of Benin, where he studied Business Administration.
Music Career:
Winning started his music career at the age of six, joining a band named Emababa reggae group, the group was known for covering and imitating Bob Marley and the Wailers. The group won a prestigious John player Gold leaf Awards” for best Reggae new acts in Nigeria in 1989. The group disbanded for financial reasons and subsequently Winning went as solo artist. He was inspired by Bob Marley, Burning Spears, Peter Tosh, Fela Kuti and Alpha Blondy. Early 1990 he released his debut album “Big Man” the album sold over 650,000 units to later gain ban by the Nigerian Police authority due to unfriendly political scandal. Winning Jah relocated to Italy due to unsafe environment and vacated the music scene for a while, he reverted in 2015 releasing few singles like “To Whom It may Concern” in collaboration with UNICEF UK, the song was controversial as he lyrically attacked fake NGOs globally. In 2016, he had a deal with VP Records in United States, the label of other mainstream reggae dancehall acts like Sean Paul, Shaggy, Jah Cure, Queen Ifrica and others, were he released albums like “Nouveau Business” “Africa Inside Me” and other singles. He had shared stages with notable singers like Baba Sissoko from Mali, blessed memory Miriam Makeba, Damian Marley, Jahcoustix, Africa Unite and many more. He has featured Stephen Marley on his track “Now I Know made in Africa” a track from his album “Africa Inside Me” released by VPAL Music group.
Awards: In 2017, his song Deep Sea was nominated for Amnesty International Music Award in Italy, in 2018 he received Obaland music awards for best Africa Reggae artist of the Year, in 2019, he received triple awards, two from the Mayor of South Dublin for best Humanitarian song singer o the Year and Best Nigerian reggae act powered by APCN humanitarian award in Dublin /Ireland.
46th Year Birthday:
In 12th 12th 1999, Winning completed 46th years, the birthday was celebrated globally for over 100 hours, feeding the needy in various West Africa countries . For the very first time in the global entertainment industry.
