Biography

William Lounsbery (December 25, 1831 – November 8, 1905) was a U.S. Representative from New York.
Born at Stone Ridge, New York, Lounsbery was graduated from Rutgers College, New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 1851. He attended the law department of the New York University in Albany, New York. He was admitted to the bar in 1853 and engaged in practice. During the Civil War was commissary of the Twentieth Regiment, New York Militia, with the rank of first lieutenant, during its three months' service. He was member of the New York State Assembly (Ulster Co., 1st D.) in 1868. He served as mayor of Kingston, New York 1878–1880.
Lounsbery was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-sixth Congress (March 4, 1879 – March 3, 1881). He died in Kingston, New York, November 8, 1905. He was interred in the Wiltwyck Rural Cemetery.
