William Hooper

William Hooper was an American lawyer, physician, and politician who was one of the signers of the United States Declaration of Independence. He was a representative for North Carolina in the Continental Congress.

William Hooper was born on June 17, 1742.

Before entering politics, William Hooper studied law and was admitted to the bar. He also practiced medicine in his hometown of Wilmington, North Carolina.

During the American Revolution, William Hooper served as a representative in the Continental Congress and signed the Declaration of Independence. He was also an advocate for independence and played an active role in the Revolutionary cause.

After signing the Declaration of Independence, William Hooper served as a delegate in the Continental Congress until 1777. He then returned to North Carolina and resumed his law practice. Later, he held various positions in state government, including a term as a judge of the North Carolina Superior Court.
