Biography

Alfred John "Whitey" Abel (March 16, 1903-February 11, 1969) was an American Thoroughbred jockey, trainer and owner. He is best known as a jockey for his victory aboard Bostonian in the 1927 Preakness Stakes, and later as trainer/owner of Honey Cloud.

Career

Abel won the 1927 Preakness Stakes as a jockey on Bostonian. He had 100 mounts in 1930 and won 36 races. After becoming a trainer, Abel also owned racehorses.
