Biography

Werner Aisslinger (born 1964 in Berlin) is a German furniture designer.
From 1987-1991 he studied Design at the University of Arts (Hochschule der Künste) in Berlin from 1989-1992 Freelanced at Jasper Morrison and Ron Arad in London.
In 1993 at Studio de Lucchi in Milan he founded “studio aisslinger” which was to be based in Berlin, focusing on product design, design concepts and brand architecture.
Between 1994-1997 he was a teacher at the Berlin University of Arts and Lahti Institute of Design, Finland. From 1998 - 2005 he was teaching at Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design.
During his career, Aisslinger has received various awards, including: Design Plus Award, Germany Compasso d’Oro Selection, Italy Bundespreis Produktdesign, Germany Blueprint 100% Design Award, London Red Dot Award, Germany Selection Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris.

  • 1. “Juli Chair”, Cappellini, Italy · Designed in 1996 for Cappellini. · A soft seat shell made of polyurethane integral foam - an innovative material used in the automobile industry. It was Selected in 1998 to appear in the permanent collection of MoMA, New York and the chair collection at Vitra Design Museum, Weil am Rhein.
