Vincenzo Troia (born August 21, 1980) is an Italian-American cybersecurity speaker, author, and hacking investigative researcher based in St. Louis, Missouri.
Early life and career
Troia earned a PhD in Information Security and Assurance from Capella University for his qualitative research study investigating "the perceived effectiveness of the CyberSecurity Framework among information security leaders".
Musical career
Troia started his musical career in 2003. He has worked with numerous artists, including Jody Watley, Dave Audé, Gareth Emery and Ultra Naté.
In 2004, Corbett and Troia remixed Ultra Nate's Free on Curvve Recordings, which ranked #23 on the U.S. Billboard Dance charts. In 2005, he was the Executive Producer for the official remixes of Looking for a New Love by American dance-pop singer Jody Watley. The song ranked No. 1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play charts. In 2006, his musical release of Flow with vocalist Jaidene Veda and remix by Gareth Emery rose to #24 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play charts.
In 2010, Troia and Jaidene Veda released their follow up record Do For Love with remix by Dave Audé, which climbed to #34 on Billboard Dance Club Songs chart.
Computer security career
Troia is credited with the discovery of several major data breaches including a database containing personal information of approximately 230 million Americans and 110 million companies belonged to Exactis in June 2018, and unprotected Google Cloud server of 4 terabytes of personal data belonged to People Data Labs in October 2019.
Troia is the founder of Night Lion Security, a cybersecurity services firm. Before founding Night Lion Security, Troia worked as a security consultant for 8 years with the US Department of Defense. In 2017, Troia was hired by MGT Capital Investments to the Hacker Advisory Board, a cybersecurity company led by John McAfee.
