Biography

Vincent Reynouard (born February 18, 1969 in Boulogne-Billancourt) is a chemical engineer, a math professor, is a Holocaust denier who has been jailed in France (under the Gayssot Act) for his writings about the Second World War.

Biography

Vincent Reynouard would have been, according to himself, attracted by National Socialism at the beginning of his teenage years. Student at the ISMRA in Caen in the early 90, he created the "Normand association for the awakening of the citizen" (Association normande pour l’éveil du citoyen) which distributed a bulletin named "New vision" (Nouvelle vision), co-writing it with Rémi Pontier. In it, he declared being part of the "post-revisionist" current of Holocaust denial movement, aiming not only to denounce the "myth of the Shoah" but also the "Jewish control" over the modern world. He also considered himself as the ideological heir of revisionists such as Robert Faurisson, Alain Guionnet and Olivier Mathieu. He was expelled for some time from his university campus for distributing pamphlets and stickers. He also had active role in the French and European Nationalist Party in which he was briefly the general secretary in 1991.

His denial work gained notoriety in connection with the Oradour-sur-Glane Massacre. His work, alone and with others, has been labeled by courts as "contesting crimes against humanity", and sometimes as "disputing crimes against humanity". Reynouard believes that "we must take up the best of what National Socialism comprised in order finally to surpass it and forge a doctrine that will be able to save our Old Continent".

There is an important distinction in French law which impinges upon Reynouard's case. It is that one may contest the existence of a war crime, but not defend a war crime.

He was released from French prison on April 5, 2011.
