Vanessa Johansson (born 12 January 1980) is an American film and television actress, voice actress, and book narrator.
Early life and education
Vanessa Johansson was born on January 12, 1980, in New York City, New York, to Karsten Johansson and Melanie Sloan.
She is the older sister of actress Scarlett Johansson and Hunter Johansson. Through Scarlett's marriage, she happens to be the ex-sister-in-law of Canadian-America actor Ryan Reynolds.
Johansson graduated from Carnegie Mellon University, New York, and later trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York.
Career
Johansson made her acting debut in 1996, aged 16, in a minor role in Manny & Lo, starring her sister Scarlett Johansson, Mary Kay Place, and Aleksa Palladino.
After a break of 10 years, she was next seen as "Catherine" in Michael Madison's 2006 drama Shifted, starring Michael Madison, Rhino Michaels, and Jeris Poindexter. In the following year, she lent her voice to "Sora" character in director Aristomenis Tsirbas's animation film Battle for Terra.
In 2008, she landed the starring role of "Laura" opposite Stephen Baldwin in action/comedy Shark in Venice (directed by Danny Lerner). In 2012, she played the lead role, alongside William Jøhnk Nielsen and Carsten Norgaard, in director Nikolaj Tarp's Danish horror film Skavengers
Most recently, in 2016, she lent her voice to the grandma character in Aleksey Tsitsilin's animation film The Snow Queen 3: Fire and Ice.
In addition, Johansson has narrated several audiobooks, most notably Eva Truesdale's Kilimanjaro Diaries and Descendant and Australian author John Birmingham's A Girl in Time. For her audiobook narration, she has won the AudioFile's Earphones Award for Anna Pitoniak's Necessary People and Affinity Konar's Mischling.
