Biography
Ute Frevert (born 10 June 1954 in Schötmar, Bad Salzuflen, North Rhine-Westphalia) is a German historian. She is a specialist in modern and contemporary Germany, with an interest in social and gender history. She currently serves as the executive director of the Center for the History of Emotions at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development. From 2003 to 2007, she was professor of German history at Yale University. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Bielefeld in 1982, and was previously on the faculty of the Free University of Berlin, the University of Konstanz, and the University of Bielefeld.
Awards
Frevert received the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize for her historical research in 1998.
