Tyler Carnevale

Tyler Carnevale (born June 22, 1994) is an American endurance athlete, ocean rower, and explorer best known for his involvement in the Polar Row.

Carnevale is an eight-time Guinness World Record holder. In 2017 he became the youngest person to row across the Arctic Ocean. His team achieved the northernmost latitude reached by a rowing vessel, was the first to row across the Arctic Ocean North to South and was first to row across the Greenland Sea.

Then a 23-year-old resident of Flemington, New Jersey, Carnevale was the youngest member of the six-man team (including two-time Olympic Gold medalist, Alex Gregory) and came into the effort with a tremendous spirit of adventure, but no previous experience in rowing. The Polar Row covered 1,251 nautical miles (1,440 mi; 2,317 km) measured in a straight line across the Arctic Ocean. It was the first expedition of its kind and pioneered new ocean rowing routes from Tromsø to Longyearbyen, from Longyearbyen to the Arctic Ice Shelf (79'55'500 N) and from the Arctic Ice Shelf to Jan Mayen. The Polar Row became the most record-breaking ocean row in history as well as the most record-breaking man-powered expedition, claiming over a dozen world records in total.

In 2019, Carnevale became a finisher of the 34th Marathon des Sables, which is regarded as the toughest footrace on earth. The self-sufficient ultramarathon spanned six days and covered over 140 miles (225 km) across the Sahara Desert in Morocco.
