Tyler Bingham

Tyler Davis Bingham (born 1947) is an American convicted murderer and a member of Aryan Brotherhood prison gang.

The "Aryan Brotherhood" started as a California state prison gang and eventually spread to the federal system. The gang members were incarcerated at the United States Prisons in Lompoc, California; Florence, Colorado; Marion, Illinois; Leavenworth, Kansas; and Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.

Through the 1980's, the gang had an informal structure of command; the members elected a three-person Council with limited oversight capabilities, meant to act more as coordinators than leaders. Barry Mills, Edgar Hevle, and Thomas Silverstein were on the initial members of the Council, and Bingham joining later. The Council's main role was to “pass messages” and keep track of members, but over the years it took on more authoritative role.

The gang’s two main goals are:

1. to control, dominate, and influence the prison system so that its members can have an “easy time” while incarcerated
2. to operate criminal enterprises, such as computer fraud, identity theft, extortion, prostitution, gambling, and drug trafficking. 

In August 2002, nearly all suspected Aryan Brotherhood gang leaders were indicted and charged with murder, contract hits, conspiracy to commit murder, extortion, robbery, and narcotics trafficking.

Bingham was convicted of murder and was returned to the United States Penitentiary Administrative Maximum Facility, where he is serving a life sentence with no possibility of parole, having avoided the death penalty.
