Biography
Tooni Mahto is an Australian marine biologist, oceanographer and campaigner. She is currently a Senior Marine Campaigner at the Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS.)
Education
Tooni Mahto attended Plymouth University, Plymouth, England and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Marine Biology. She then received a master's degree in oceanography from The University of Southampton, Southampton, England.
Career
After receiving the bachelor's degree in Marine Biology, she worked as a diving instructor in South Africa and led scientific expeditions in Mozambique and Malawi. She also worked in television as a camera operator (even underwater camera operator) and researcher at the BBC's Natural History Unit.
As a camera operator trainee, she was a crew member of various television series including the war-drama Copenhagen (2002,) and romance/comedy I'll Be There (2003.)
While attending the Southampton University for her Master's degree, she co-presented in 2008 the BBC series "Oceans," where she was got to dive in locations from the Arctic to the tropics.
In 2009, she was part of the television documentary, Wildest Dreams.
She also is a keen Tri-athlete and has been on the verge of breaking into the Team GB Tri-Athlete squad.
Currently, she works for the Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS) as a Senior Marine Campaigner.
