Biography

Anthony William Haward Mallett (29 August 1924 – 10 December 1994) was an English cricketer active from 1946 to 1954 who played for Kent. He was born in Dulwich and died in Cape Town. He appeared in 75 first-class matches as a righthanded batsman who bowled right arm fast medium. He scored 1,764 runs with a highest score of 97 and took 213 wickets with a best performance of six for 42. When his cricketing career ended Tony Mallett joined the staff of Peterhouse in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) where he became housemaster of Ellis House and a seniorsenior teacher. In 1963 He was appointed as Principal of Bishops Dioscesan College in Cape Town, South Africa which post he held until his retirement in 1983 when he was succeeded by John Peake – a former Eton Housemaster.
