Biography
Tomas Dueñas Uribe (born March 10, 1987) is an American Internet entrepreneur who co-founded Mavish, Hypefire and Carros.com.co. Tomas was the Head of Social Media for the biggest media conglomerate in Colombia, Caracol Televisión, managing more than 15 Million Facebook fans and 20 Million Twitter followers. He teaches Growth Hacking courses through one of the largest online education platforms in the world, Platzi. Tomas regularly posts videos on his YouTube channel where he has had more than 5.7 Million views. Tomas Dueñas Uribe was recently ranked fifth amongst the Top 10 entrepreneurs in Colombia. He was also ranked as the number one Social Media Manager in Colombia.
Personal life
Tomas was born in Miami Beach, Florida and lived there before his family moved to Bogotá, Colombia, where he spent most of his childhood. Tomas attended high school at the Anglo Colombian School. He then attended the University of Los Andes and majored in political science. He used to be a professional race car driver within the Formula BMW and Formula Renault categories during 12 years of his life, having started racing when he was 12 years old.
Startups
Carros.com.co
In 2006, Tomas, Santiago Rodriguez, Simon Hampton, and Sebastian Dueñas formed Carros.com.co, a used car marketplace where anyone could buy and sell cars. The site quickly grew to become one of the biggest automotive websites in Colombia. During 2013, the company expanded across Latin America setting up properties on Carros.com.ve, Carros.co, Carros.co.cr, Carros.com.pr, Carros.com.gt, Carros.com.hn and AutosMX.com. The founders have reported that almost 2 million cars are being seen throughout their network every month.
Mavish
During the summer of 2013, Tomas decided to create Mavish as a growth hacking experiment designed to put his marketing techniques to the test. Mavish quickly grew to an audience of 6 million monthly visitors, by relying on viral growth through social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. The main objective of Mavish is to aggregate the most interesting viral videos and show them to a Spanish-based community. As a result of Mavish, Tomas is referred to as one of the top Growth Hackers in Colombia and Latin America.
Hypefire
During December 2013, Tomas cofounded Hypefire with Pete Madigan and Terry Church, with the objective of creating video content for EDM artists and Festivals. Hypefire produced the show Ibiza Uncut with artists like Martin Garrix, Oliver Heldens and Paul Oakenfold.
