Biography

Thomas Bonnevie (born 12 September 1879 in Trondheim, died 19 May 1960 in Oslo) was a Norwegian Supreme Court justice. He was appointed to the Supreme Court of Norway in 1922.
A son of Member of Parliament and cabinet minister Jacob Aall Bonnevie, Thomas Bonnevie earned the cand.jur. degree in 1902 at the Royal Frederick University, and became a barrister (with the right to appear before the Supreme Court) already in 1910. He was a partner of the law firm Nørregaard & Bonnevie until his appointment as Supreme Court justice in 1922.
He was married to the women's rights campaigner Margarete Bonnevie, who was President of the Norwegian Association for Women's Rights. Thomas Bonnevie also promoted Gustav Vigeland's art and the construction of the sculpture arrangement in Frogner Park. He was the brother of Norway's first female Professor, Kristine Bonnevie and the peace activist and Member of Parliament Carl Bonnevie.
In 1947, he published the book Høyesterett og riksråds-forhandlingene.
