Third child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge
Quick Facts
Biography
On 4 September 2017, Kensington Palace announced that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their third child. The announcement was made earlier than might have been expected because, as with her two earlier pregnancies, the Duchess was suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum (extreme morning sickness), forcing her to cancel several engagements.
Media sources have speculated that the baby, due no sooner than March 2018, will be born at St Mary's Hospital, London, as were the couple's two other children. Theresa May, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, said the announcement was "fantastic news", while the unborn child's great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II also issued a statement of congratulations.
The expected child will be fifth in the line of succession to the British throne, after his or her paternal grandfather Prince Charles, father Prince William, and elder siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
