Biography
Tamara van Ark (born 11 August 1974) is a Dutch politician of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD). She is the State Secretary for Social Affairs and Employment in the Cabinet Rutte III since 26 October 2017.
A member of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), she previously was elected to the House of Representatives from 17 June 2010 until her appointment. As a parliamentarian, she focused on matters of long-term care, especially special health care, home care and quality of life.
Van Ark studied public administration at Erasmus University Rotterdam. She was an alderwoman of the former municipality of Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel from 2004 to 2010 and of its successor the municipality of Zuidplas in 2010. She was elected to the House of Representatives in the general election of 2010 and was reelected in 2012 and 2017.
