Biography
Steffanie A. Strathdee (born May 28, 1966), is the Associate Dean of Global Health Sciences, Harold Simon Professor and Chief of the Division of Global Public Health in the Department of Medicine at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine.

Awards
Strathdee has been awarded more than $30 million in funding to conduct research studies involving marginalized populations in Mexico. She received recognition for her many contributions to disease prevention through optimal research projects, including the Award for Leadership in International Collaboration from the National Institute on Drug Abuse in (2009); the Accol-AIDS, Award for Best Science/Research Project in Vancouver (2007); National Health Research Developmental Program, Health Canada National Health Scholar Award (1998-03); Dean’s Award, Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia (1997); 11th International Conference on AIDS Young Investigators Award (1996); Canadian Association for HIV Research, Young Investigators Award in HIV/AIDS Research (1994); Department of Preventive Medicine & Biostatistics, University of Toronto, Randall Coates Epidemiology Prize (1993). Strathdee serves on the editorial board of many prestigious journals, including: AIDS, Drug and Alcohol Dependence and Harm Reduction (online), and is a member of many advisory boards, including the National Advisory Board, the Committee on Hepatitis C and HIV/AIDS, the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, and the United Nations Reference Group on HIV Prevention Among Injection Drug Users.
