Biography
Sonia I. Seneviratne is a Swiss climate scientist who works at the Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science at ETH Zurich. She received the James B. Macelwane Medal from the American Geophysical Union in 2013. She was a co-author of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) October 8, 2018 Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5ºC. Seneviratne holds a Ph.D. in Atmospheric and Climate Science from ETH Zurich.
Work
Seneviratne was included in Thomson Reuters's 2015 list of the most cited modern scientists. She was the lead author on a 2014 report by the Royal Society and the National Academy of Sciences that found a slowing in global warming to only be temporary.
She is a Revelle Medal committee member.
She was a co-author of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) October 8, 2018 Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5ºC.
