Smita Roy

Smita Roy is an Indian Singer. She gained wide fame for her rendition of 'Chadhti Jawani' for Universal Music and several other tracks with different music labels. Her teaming up with Abhijit Pohankar and Roopkumar Rathod recently for the album Ghazal Lounge with EMI music put her in a different league of Fusion Music as her version of the Pakistani Ghazal 'Woh Mujhse Hue' gained maximum hits in the album.

Smita Roy was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra

She is one of the few Indian artists in recent times, to have gone and lived, and worked in Pakistan film industry and performed live on stage in Pakistan; given the current political conditions between the two countries, as a gesture of peace. She has also been functional in the cultural bonding towards the Indo-Pak Peace process, working with filmmaker and social activist Sevy Ali; and is currently working on a documentary on the cultural unity of both the countries.
