Biography

Sir Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy, 2nd Baronet, CSI, (9 October 1811–11 July 1877), was an Indian businessman.
Born Cursetjee Jeejeebhoy, he was the eldest son of Sir Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy. Jejeebhoy inherited his father's title under a special Act of the Viceroy's Council in pursuance of a provision in the letters-patent.
Jejeebhoy had the advantage of a good English education, and continued the career of benevolent activity and loyalty to British rule which had been the theme of his father's life. His public service was recognized by his nomination to the Order of the Star of India, as well as by appointment to the Legislative Councils of Calcutta and Bombay.
On his death, his title was inherited by his eldest son, Menekjee. Besides several daughters, he had further sons, namely Cowasjee Cursetjee and Jamsetjee Cursetjee (father of Rustamjee, father of Sir Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy, 7th Bt).
