Biography
Simon Castets (born 1984) is a French art curator. Castets is currently the director and curator of the New York non-profit contemporary art organization Swiss Institute. He regularly writes for catalogues and periodicals, and frequently participates in panels and juries internationally. Castets has an MA in Curatorial Studies from Columbia University.
In addition to his curatorial work at the Swiss Institute, Castets has curated the Samdani Art Award for the 2018 Dhaka Art Summit, “Rachel Rose” at Aspen Art Museum, “Poetry will be made by all!” at Moderna Museet, Stockholm; “Americans 2017” at LUMA Foundation, Zurich (both together with Hans Ulrich Obrist for 89plus) and “Champs Elysées” at Palais de Tokyo, Paris (with Julie Boukobza and Nicola Trezzi)
89plus is a research project founded in 2013 by Castets and Hans Ulrich Obrist, concerning itself with the creative endeavors of artists and innovators born in or after 1989.
