Biography
Sreya Jayadeep (born 5 November 2005) is an Indian playback singer from the state of Kerala. She has recorded song for music albums and films in Malayalam language. She has appeared on the Television reality shows, Surya Singer in Surya TV and Sun Singer in Sun TV.
Early life
Sreya was born in the city of Kozhikode, in 2005 to Jayadeep and Praseetha. She has a younger brother named Sourav. By the age of ten, she had recorded more than 50 devotional and film songs. Sreya's first commercial song was on the Christian devotional album Hitham; she later recorded an entire album called Sreyam. Her mother recalls that, at the age of two, Sreya began singing while listening to the television and radio. She started learning classical music at age four. Sreya began music lessons at age three. Her teacher in classical music was Thamarakkad Krishnan Namboodiri, and playback singer Sathish Babu trained her in different genres of music.
Her schooling began in Silver Hills Higher Secondary School in Kozhikode. Currently, Sreya is at ninth grade in the Devagiri CMI Public School in Kozhikode. Sreya is a hindu and is highly appreciated for her talent in singing.
Music career
In 2013, at age 8, she participated in a contest for kids, Surya Singer, on Surya TV, and won first prize. In 2014, she participated in the Tamil reality show Sun Singer on Sun TV and won first prize. Her debut as a playback singer was in the Malayalam film Weeping Boy with two songs: "Chema Chema Chemanoru" and "Thaaraattupattum". She received more film offers after that and worked in a number of Malayalam films. She had a breakthrough with the song "Enno Njan Ente" from the film Amar Akbar Anthony (2015).
In 2016, she sang "Minungum Minnaminuge" in the film Oppam, which was one of the most popular Malayalam songs of the year and gained her critical acclaim. Sreya considers music director M. Jayachandran her guru. Jayachandran had said that he would place Sreya next to Sujatha Mohan and Shreya Ghoshal.
Sreya also debuted in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada language films. She is part of the "Harithasree" project of Kerala government, for which she sang the melodious environmental duet "Oru Thai Nadaam" with G. Venugopal, written by Sugathakumari. She also played the part of "Ormayil Oruvattam Koodi" in a musical show in memory of M. B. Sreenivasan, conducted by music director M. Jayachandran.
