Shainah Joseph (born 15 May 1995) is a Canadian female volleyball player. She is part of the Canada women's national volleyball team.
Early life
Shainah Joseph was born on 15 May 1995 in Ottawa, Canada. Her father is a retired Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer.
Career
Joseph began attended École secondaire catholique Franco-Cité in Ottawa, Ontario, where she played volleyball for the school team, as a middle blocker. She also played for Ottawa's Maverick Volleyball Club. She was a member of the Canadian Junior National Team and the Ottawa Provincial Team.
After finishing high school, Joseph moved to America and enrolled at the University of Florida, with telecommunications as her major. She began playing volleyball for Florida university's team, Gators.
As a freshman in 2013, she played in four matches, including clashes with New Orleans (Aug. 30) in the Campus USA Credit Union Invite, Iona (Sep. 14) and Western Michigan (Sep. 14) in the 2013 Active Ankle Challenge, and versus Milwaukee (Sep. 21) on the road. She registered one kill each against New Orleans and Iona. The following year, as a sophomore, she played in 17 matches, starting three, and 30 sets as a middle blocker. In the season, she registered 46 kills, and had 19 blocks on the season, with 17 of them being block assists.
In 2015, she was redshirted for the Gators. She was named to the Canadian National Team Roster, and played for Canadian National volleyball team at the 2016 Pan American Cup held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
In January 2018 Joseph signed her first professional contract with the Bulgarian team, Maritsa Plovdiv Volleyball Club. In early 2019, she played with Top Speed volleyball in Chinese Taipei.
