Sergio Tejera Rodríguez (born 28 May 1990) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for Real Oviedo as a central midfielder.
Club career
Bornin Barcelona, Catalonia, Tejera joined local RCD Espanyol's youth ranks in 2000, aged 10. Six years later, he was spotted by Chelsea scout Frank Arnesen during a match with the Spanish under-15s, signing with the London club in late March. During his spell with the Blues, he appeared in 22 matches for the reserves and scored once.
In the last days of the 2009 January transfer window, Chelsea agreed to loan Tejera to RCD Mallorca in his country. On 24 July, the Balearic Islands side exercised their buying option on the player and signed him to a four-year deal.
Tejera spent the vast majority of his first seasons with Mallorca with the B-team, in the third division. On 7 November 2010, he made his first-team – and La Liga – debut, playing 11 minutes in a 2–3 away loss against Real Zaragoza.
In the summer of 2012, Tejera returned to Espanyol as Javi Márquez moved in the opposite direction. He scored his first goal in the top flight on 2 September, netting his team's second in a 2–3 defeat at Levante UD.
On 29 January 2014, after receiving no playing time during the campaign, Tejera was loaned to Deportivo Alavés until June. On 4 August, after featuring regularly, his loan was extended for one year.
On 8 July 2015, Tejera terminated his contract with the Pericos and moved to neighbouring Gimnàstic de Tarragona hours later. On 11 June 2018, he signed a two-year deal with second division club Real Oviedo.
