Sara Lane

Sara Lane (born March 12, 1949) is an American former film and television actress active in the 1960s and 70s. She is known for her roles in I Saw What You Did(1965) and the TV series The Virginian (1966-1970)

Early life and family

Sara Lane was born as Susan Russell Lane on March 12, 1949, in New York City, New York, to Rusty Lane and Sara Anderson — both actors. 

Career

Lane made her acting debut in 1965 in the role of "Kit Austin" in William Castle's horror-comedy I Saw What You Did, starring Joan Crawford, John Ireland, and Leif Erickson. She was credited as Sarah Lane. 

The following year, she landed the recurring role of "Elizabeth Grainger" in Charles Marquis Warren's Western television series The Virginian. She portrayed the granddaughter of the new owner John Grainger (played by Charles Bickford), who had taken over Shiloh from his predecessor, Judge Henry Garth (played by Lee J. Cobb), in the transition from the fourth to the fifth season.

In 1973, Lane was seen in Don Jones' horror film Schoolgirls in Chains (credited as Russell Lane.)

Lane's last screen credit was Tom Laughlin's Billy Jack Goes to Washington (1977,) starring Laughlin, Delores Taylor, and E.G. Marshall. After this movie, she retired from acting, and she and her husband became joint owners of Havens Wine Cellars in Napa Valley, California. They have a daughter, Sara Scott, and an adopted son, James Scott. Lane now works with children with various types of problems.
