Early Life and Education
Samara da Dores da Cunha Bumba was born in Huambo, Angola, to an Angolan-Portuguese mother and an Angolan father. She spent most of her childhood in Angola before briefly residing in Namibia. Bumba later moved to the United Kingdom to pursue her tertiary education. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering and a Master's degree in the same field from London South Bank University, graduating in 2019.
Career
In 2022, Samara Bumba ventured into the fashion industry and founded the jewellery and accessory brand, KHAISA. The brand is known for its emphasis on ethical and sustainable fashion practices.
Bumba draws inspiration from a diverse range of cultural influences, including abstract art, tribal African designs, and Eurocentric art movements such as Art Deco and Art Nouveau. The jewellery by KHAISA is handcrafted and aims to showcase a distinct aesthetic and uniqueness.
In an interview with Leonard Magazine in 2022, Bumba highlighted her focus on affordability and flexibility in her jewellery designs.
In addition to her work as a jewellery designer, Bumba has been actively involved in advocating for sustainable practices within the industry. By incorporating eco-friendly materials and adopting responsible production methods, she endeavours to contribute positively to the overall sustainability of the fashion landscape.
