Biography
Salvator Cicurel (March 3, 1893 – February 15, 1975) was an Egyptian fencer, and later the president of Cairo's Sephardi Jewish community from1946 until 1957.
In fencing he competed in the individual and team épée and team foil events at the 1928 Summer Olympics.
In a meeting with the American Jewish Committee in New York in October 1948, as the president of Cairo's Sephardi Jewish community, he stated his belief about the 1948 Cairo bombings “the recent anti-Jewish outbreaks…[were] connected with the existence of Israel and the defeats of the Egyptian Army there.”
