Biography

Gustav Magnusson (born March 1, 1992), better known as S4, is a Swedish professional Dota 2 player who plays the offlane role for OG. He started his Dota 2 career with The Tough Bananas at Dreamhack Summer 2012 after which he was picked up by the team No Tidehunter. No Tidehunter were themselves picked up by Alliance and changed their name to match that of their new owners. They would go on to win at the The International 2013. As a result, S4 was the highest earning eSports player in 2013.

Dota 2

S4's Dota 2 career started in early 2012 where he played at Dreamhack Summer 2012 with his team The Tough Bananas. The team did not make the playoffs. In the fall of that same year he, along with AdmiralBulldog, created No Tidehunter. Shortly after their formation they won their first tournament, the Revenge #1. With the addition of Loda and Akke they set out to win DreamHack Winter 2012. Despite being underdogs, they managed to beat Evil Geniuses in the grand finals and secure first place in the team’s first major tournament together.

In 2013, Alliance won several tournaments such as the StarLadder Season 5 LAN and Dreamhack Summer 2013. They won the year's biggest tournament, The International 3, and without losing a series and only losing 3 games; two of which in the final best of 5 game series. As a result, S4 was the highest earning eSports player in 2013.

Throughout 2014, s4's performance remained consistent at The International 2014, despite the team only getting 11-12th. After TI4 he decided to part ways with Alliance. He went on to create Team Secret with Clement "Puppey" Ivanov, which proved to be one of the most dominant teams throughout 2014 and 2015, largely due to s4's plays in the mid lane.

Team Secret won ESL One Frankfurt 2015. After Secrets disappointing placing in The International 2015 and the subsequent disbanding of the squad S4 rejoined Alliance.

Alliance qualified for The International 2016 as the runner up to the Regional qualifier winners. They finished 3rd in Group A with 3 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses. Alliance lost successive bracket stage matches to EHOME and Fnatic and ultimately finished 9th–12th.

As part of the annual post-The International roster shake-up, S4, AdmiralBulldog, and Akke left Alliance. On August 31, S4 joined OG, alongside Jesse "JerAx" Vainikka, and Anathan "Ana" Pham.
