Biography

Ryan Byron McGuire (born November 23, 1971 in Bellflower, California, United States) is a retired professional baseball player. He played six seasons in Major League Baseball, from 1997–2002, as a first baseman and outfielder. In his MLB career, he played for the Montreal Expos, New York Mets, Florida Marlins, and Baltimore Orioles.
Before entering professional baseball, McGuire was a first-team All-American for the UCLA Bruins, for whom he is tied with Cody Decker for 7th on UCLA's all-time home run list with 47, and was a standout two-way player for El Camino Real High School.
He signed a minor-league deal with the Orioles on November 16, 2001. After the Orioles purchased his contract on May 18, 2002, he batted .077 with two runs batted in in 17 games. His designation for assignment two months later on July 16 ended the major-league portion of his playing career.
