Biography

Rudolf Kruse (born 12 September 1952 in Rotenburg/Wümme) is a German computer scientist and mathematician.

Education and Professional Career

Rudolf Kruse obtained his diploma (Mathematics) degree in 1979 from TU Braunschweig and a PhD in Mathematics in 1980 as well as the venia legendi in Mathematics in 1984 from the same university. Following a short stay at Fraunhofer Society, in 1986 he joined the Technical University of Braunschweig as a professor of computer science. Since 1996 he is a full professor at the Department of Computer Science of Otto-von-Guericke Universität Magdeburg.

Research Activities

Rudolf Kruse holds the chair for Computational Intelligence at the school of Computer Science at Otto-von-Guericke Universität Magdeburg. He has carried out research and projects in Computational Intelligence, Fuzzy Systems, Fuzzy Control, Artificial Neural Networks, Evolutionary Algorithms, Knowledge Based Systems, Statistics, Bayes Betworks, Data Mining and Exploratory Data Analysis. His research group is very successful in various industrial applications. He has coauthored more than 30 books, as well as more than 350 refereed technical papers in various scientific areas. He is associate editor of several scientific journals. He is a fellow IFSA of the International Fuzzy Systems Association (IFSA), ECCAI Fellow and IEEE fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
