Biography
Rosemarie Truman is a growth strategist, entrepreneur, business consultant and CEO of The Center for Advancing Innovation (CAI). The Center for Advancing Innovation (CAI) is a global public-private partnership, non-profit based in the Washington DC area. Previously, she served as the Director of innovation impact at the U.S Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). At CAI, she provides strategic opportunities for researchers to commercialize their innovations by nurturing their processes and linking them to investors.
Education
Truman obtained undergraduate degrees in Mathematics, Economics and Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Smith College where she won the prestigious Samuel Bowles’s Prize, a special prize for distinguished students in economics. She equally acquired a “mini-MBA” sponsored by Booz Allen & Hamilton, and also attended Oxford University to study Software Engineering.
Career
Truman began her professional career with Goldman Sachs in 1993 as an equities analyst. In 1995, she was hired by Oracle as a senior manager where she oversaw the implementation of Oracle’s Cloud computing innovations. From 1998, she served as a manager with Ernst & Young, spearheading its eBusiness and IT strategies. In 2000, she became the Global Head of Strategy with Marsh & McLennan, a global professional service firm. Rosemarie eventually, got hired by IBM to serve as its Global Head of the innovation Strategy Practice Area. In this capacity, she spearheaded the design and implementation of IBM’s R&D and Innovation strategy Practice, an entity in charge of incubating and commercializing innovations.
Research and Innovation
In 2007, Rosemarie Truman became the Global Leader for Innovation Strategy Practice and Equity Partner with PRTM, A 600-person strategy consulting firm, working specifically to engineer revenue growth for many multinationals including Nokia. In 2009, she served as the Executive Vice President, Advanced Clinical and Advanced Group, helping to develop and commercialize biomedical innovations. She founded RHT Consulting, a private business consulting firm. Currently, she heads Center for Advancing Innovation (CAI), a company she founded in 2012. In CAI, she leads a couple of highly talented business experts in creating innovations and driving breakthroughs.
