Roman Shpek (November 10, 1954, Broshniv-Osada, Ivano-Frankivsk region) is a Ukrainian diplomat, politician, senior adviser of PJSC "Alfa-Bank" Ukraine (Kyiv), a member of the National Bank of Ukraine. Minister of Economy of Ukraine in 1993-1995; Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the European Union in 2000-2007. People's Deputy of Ukraine.
Education
Roman Shpek graduated from Ukrainian National Forestry University in 1971.
Career
In 1976-1978 - he worked as engineer, chief of the composition of Forestry Complex "Osmoloda" Rozhniativ Raion; In 1978-1985 - Chief Engineer, Director of Forestry Verkhovynsky plant; In 1985-1989 - Director of Forestry Complex Vorohtynskoho Ivano-Frankivsk region; In 1989-1991 - Deputy Minister of Ukraine forest industry; In 1991-1992 - Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of Ukraine for the wood industry; From March to November 1992 - Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on denationalization and de-monopolization of production; In 1992-1993 - Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine; In 1993-1995 - Minister of Economy of Ukraine; In 1995-1996 - Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of Ukraine; In 1996-2000 - Head of the National Agency for Reconstruction and Development, and then - National Agency for Development and European Integration; In 2000-2007 - Head of the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the European Union; Since February 2008 - Vice-President of Alfa Bank (Ukraine); November 2010 - Senior Advisor to Alfa Bank Ukraine; In parallel, in 2010 - 2014, he was appointed Advisor to the President of Ukraine. In addition, he is a member of the National Bank of Ukraine Supervisory Board on a voluntary basis.
January 2014 - he is the chairman of the Independent Bankers Association Ukraine. Roman Shpek was National Coordinator of the technical assistance program for Ukraine. He was representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Development Program, Governor of the World Bank for Ukraine, co-chairman of the Ukrainian-German Council on economic cooperation and co-chairman of the Ukrainian-Italian Council on economic cooperation.
