Robert Patten (1859 – 17 September 1940) was an English-born Australian politician.
Life
Born in London, Patten migrated to Australia as a youth, and from 1883 was a teacher in rural New South Wales. In 1896 he became a farmer with a property near Wellington, and was President of the Farmers and Settlers Association from 1908-13. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council from 1908-10. In 1913, he was elected to the Australian House of Representatives as a member of the Commonwealth Liberal Party, defeating former New South Wales Premier William Lyne, running as an independent, for the seat of Hume.
