Biography
Robert D. Loeffler is an American orthopedic surgeon with Doctors Without Borders.
Early life and career
Robert Loeffler graduated from the Muhlenberg College in 1970 and following it, attended Temple Medical School from which he graduated with honors. He was a resident at the Anschutz Medical Campus, University of Colorado School of Medicine where he specialized in sports medicine, until he was promoted to an orthopaedic surgeon at the same place and was allowed to work at orthopedic department.
Following the 2010 Haiti earthquake, Dr. Loeffler worked with the survivors, which was his first wartime experience. Later on, Loeffler served as orthopedic surgeon at Lower Keys Medical Center and traveled to Syria in 2016 with Médecins Sans Frontières.
Following his overseas trip, he relocated again, this time to Fishermen's Hospital where he continued his work as a surgeon and chief of staff. Dr. Loeffler is a member of various orthopedic organizations, including the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and is listed on the board of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. His honors include being ranked as "Top Sports Medicine Doctor in Denver" and the "The Best Doctors in America Award: Sports Medicine".
