Biography
Robert Asselin (born 1974) is the director of policy for Canadian Finance Minister Bill Morneau.
Career
From 2001 to 2004, Asselin was a policy advisor to Intergovernmental Affairs Ministers Stéphane Dion and Pierre Pettigrew. Asselin served as a speechwriter and advisor to Prime Minister Paul Martin from 2004 to 2006. He was the Associate Director of the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Ottawa from 2007 to 2015.
Asselin was Vice President, Policy and Research at Canada 2020, a Canadian Progressive think-tank located in Ottawa from January 2015 to August 2015. He was a senior advisor to Justin Trudeau from October 2012 to 2015.
In 2014, he was appointed Visiting Public Policy Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C.
In November 2015, he was named as director of policy for Bill Morneau.
