Richard J. Seitz

Richard J. Seitz was an officer in the United States Army, serving as a lieutenant general in World War II and as commanding general of the 10th Mountain Division during the Battle of Italy. He is known for his leadership and bravery in combat.

Richard J. Seitz graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1928. He served in various infantry assignments before World War II and then distinguished himself in combat during the war.

During World War II, Richard J. Seitz commanded the 10th Mountain Division, leading them in combat during the Battle of Italy. He played a key role in the division's successful advance and capture of an important mountain peak, Mount Belvedere.

Richard J. Seitz received numerous awards and honors for his military service, including the Distinguished Service Cross, which is the second highest military decoration for valor in combat. He also received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart among others.

After the war, Richard J. Seitz continued his military career, serving in various leadership positions. He retired from the Army in 1958 and went on to have a successful civilian career. He passed away in 1978 at the age of 73.
