Biography
Richard Cuthbertson is, as at February 2011, the research director of the Oxford Institute of Retail Management (OXIRM) at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, where he is a senior research fellow. He is also a fellow of Green Templeton College.
He was awarded a doctorate from the University of Southampton and a First Class Degree in management science from Lancaster University. Prior to moving to Oxford he was a senior lecturer at Bournemouth University; before that he worked for Unipart and British Gas in marketing and supply chain management.
He has written over 100 articles, has founded and directs several programmes for business executives and has won the Pegasus Prize, an award for "eBusiness Future Insights" sponsored by Pegasus Solutions.
Dr Cuthbertson’s research interests focus on how society, the economy, and the environment are influenced and changed by retailers and service providers. In particular, he considers
the extent to which service innovation and customisation through information can be efficiently leveraged in a mass market – leading to improved customer experiences, linking service operations and service marketing.
His areas of expertise are said to be retail policy, service innovation and the customer experience, sustainable supply chains and distribution, and loyalty management.
