Biography
Reza Jahangiri (born June 9, 1978) is the CEO of American Advisors Group (AAG), co-chair of the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association (NRMLA) and senior publisher for The Reverse Review.
Education
Jahangiri graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Science degree and went on to obtain his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles in 2004.
Early career
Prior to his involvement in the reverse mortgage industry, Jahangiri was a founding partner of HeartSavers, a preventative medical imaging company that worked with Johns Hopkins Hospital on the early detection of heart disease and cancer. He was also responsible for launching Imaging Venture Group, a healthcare consulting company that supplied medical equipment to private medical practices.
Career
In 2004, Jahangiri became founder and CEO of American Advisors Group (AAG), a reverse mortgage lending company based in Orange County, CA. In 2010, AAG launched its current Fred Thompson campaign, signing on the famous politician and actor as their national spokesperson.
In December 2013, Jahangiri was interviewed by the Orange County Register when American Advisors Group was voted 3rd place (large company category) in the newspaper's OC100 Top Workplaces issue. The same year, Jahangiri won the leadership award in that group. In 2014, AAG was rated as an OC Top Workplace for a second consecutive year.
Jahangiri was honored as a 2014 Orange County regional finalist for Entrepreneur of the YearTM by Ernst & Young. During the same year, AAG was named a Top Performing Company finalist by the Orange County chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth.
Industry affiliations
Jahangiri is an active member of the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association (NRMLA), serving as co-chair of the organization's board of directors. He is also co-chairman of association's policy committee. NRMLA is the national voice of the reverse mortgage industry, serving as an educational resource, policy advocate and public affairs center for lenders and related professionals. The association was established in 1997 to enhance the professionalism of the reverse mortgage business.
Humanitarian efforts
In 2011, Jahangiri created the AAG Gives Back campaign, a committee dedicated to supporting various local and global charities. The Kwagala Project became the anchor program for AAG Gives Back after Jahangiri’s visit to Gulu, Uganda in August 2011. AAG sends a monthly monetary donation and holds fundraisers that contribute towards the rescue and rehabilitation, food, shelter, education and vocational training of young impoverished women affected by the sex trade industry in Uganda.
AAG Gives Back also supports Alzheimer's Association, Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, Friends & Helpers, and Families Forward.
Personal life
Jahangiri married actress Kate Levering on April 20, 2013 at The Beverly Hills Hotel. They have a son, Holden Robert, born in July 2013.
