Rex Baculfo

The fifth season of the Philippine television reality competition show, The Clash was broadcast by GMA Network. Both Rayver Cruz and Julie Anne San Jose remained as the hosts, but Ken Chan and Rita Daniela did not return, making it the first season not to include Journey hosts. This is also the first season to air only once a week on Sundays.

It premiered on January 22, 2023, on the network's Sunday Grande line up. The season ended with a total of 19 episodes on May 28, 2023, having Rex Baculfo as the winner. It was replaced by Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis in its timeslot.

The show opens online auditions on August 7, 2022, for singers aged 16 and above, after the third and fourth seasons.

The first five clashers in the Top 30 are announced on December 18, 2022, until the last five contestants on January 3, 2023.

The 30 clashers were electronically paired to battle it out in a singing duel with the winner advancing to the next round.

The randomizer electronically selects the Clashers who will face each other in The Clash Arena. After their performances, the Clash Panel members select who will advance to the next round. They need to get at least majority of the panel member's votes.

The episode opens with season 4 winner Mariane Osabel performing Sia's "Unstoppable" with the Top 30 Clashers of Season 5, before joining the Clash Masters and the Clash Panel members where they sang "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back" by Shawn Mendes along with past winners: Golden Cañedo (season 1), Jeremiah Tiangco (season 2), and Jessica Villarubin (season 3).

The format of this round is a five-way battle where the randomizer selects the Clasher who will pick the other four singers to compose the group and perform for the judges' vote to advance to the Top 12.

Episode 6 (February 26)

At the end of the first round, the randomizer selected Mark Avila to commence the second round. The last Clasher chosen by Avila then chose the first contestant of the group to perform first.

Episode 7 (March 5)

After the first battle, the randomizer selected two Clashers (Jayvee Real and Lara Bernardo) to take turns picking their sets of four clashers before switching their places to the opposite groups. Real volunteered his group to perform first while the last Clasher originally selected by Bernardo started the next battle.

Episode 8 (March 12)

In this round, the clashers were paired. Isaac Zamudio, who was the last to be safe from Round 2, was selected by the hosts to choose his partner from the remaining Clashers for a duet, while the selected partner each took turns to compose the pairs.

The last two remaining Clashers, who were not chosen to be paired, have the chance to steal another Clasher to be part of their duo. Italicized names are those who had a chance to steal.

Mark Avila chose to steal Jemy Picardal, while Jean Drilon chose to steal Arabelle dela Cruz. The initial duos of Picardal and dela Cruz, who were Isaac Zamudio and Liana Castillo, were eventually paired.

The Clasher was selected by the host.

For each set, a pair will be chosen electronically, who will in turn choose their opponent pair. After the performance, the Clash Panel will vote for a pair who will advance to the next round. For the losing pair, they will compete with each other in Matira ang Matibay round and only one will remain, still subject to the votes of the Clash Panel.

The group battles in this round involves the nine Clashers performing songs in groups of three. The Clash Panel selected three Clashers who took turns to pick their team members. Below is the groupings selection. Italicized names are those selected by the Clash Panel.

In this round, the Clash Panel will pick the order of the group's performances. After the performances, the Clash Panel will pick the group who will advance to the next round. For the two losing groups, they were individually judged by their performances. The Clash Panel then selected three Clashers who will compete with each other in Matira ang Matibay round, with only two remaining and advancing to the next round.

Matira ang Matibay

This is the final round of the competition. Every week, after the performances, the judges will select the top Clashers (number depends on every episode) who will stay on the competition while the bottom two clashers will face-off on Matira ang Matibay round where one will be safe, and the other eliminated.

The randomizer selected one Casher. The remaining Clashers were given ten seconds to stand if they wish to challenge the chosen Clasher.

Top 6

The Top 6 Clashers performed their songs as tribute to their personal singing idols. They were responsible in picking the order of their performances by draw lots.

The bottom two Clashers were announced and there were no Matira ang Matibay performances. Instead the bottom Clasher faced the wildcard Clasher on the next episode.

The Clash Back

The eliminated Clashers of the Top 12 have the chance to return to the competition by being a wildcard and whoever advanced competed against Mark on the Matira ang Matibay round. Nash Casas, who was eliminated in the first round, participated in this challenge, in place of Kirby Bas.

The Clashers performed in a pre-determined order. Only two Clashers advanced to the Ultimate Final Clash which determined this season's Grand Champion.

Non-competition performance: Jungkook's "Dreamers" and Jessie J's "Masterpiece" by Julie Anne San Jose and Jessica Sanchez featuring the final 4 clashers and The Clash alumni consisting of Garrett Bolden (season 1 finalist), runner-ups Thea Astley (season 2) and Vilmark Viray (season 4), as well as the respective winners, Jeremiah Tiangco (season 2), Jessica Villarubin (season 3), and Mariane Osabel (season 4).

The Final One-on-One

The song interpreted by the last two clashers is the original composition from Clash panelist Christian Bautista entitled "Oras Ko 'To" (It's My Time), arranged by the show's musical director, Marc Lopez.

The season closed with Rex Baculfo performing his victory song once more, after being proclaimed as the winner.
